Cable Clips & Cleats
FAQs
You can get clips and cleats to support copper, fibre and power cabling:
- Nail-in cable clips like quick fixing for small data/telecom cables
- Saddle clips for general surface cable fixing
- Heavy duty cleats for securing power or armoured cables
- Trefoil cleats for keeping three-phase cables grouped
- Non-metallic cleats for corrosion resistant outdoor installs
- Stainless steel cleats for industrial and harsh environments
To select the correct size:
- Measure the cable diameter (OD) available from cable specs.
- Choose a clip or cleat with an internal diameter 1-2mm larger than the cable.
- For heavy cables or outdoor use, select UV resistant, high strength or stainless steel cleats.
- For grouped power cables, use trefoil cleats to manage electromagnetic forces.
Fixings depend on the surface and load:
- For masonry walls use wall plugs and screws
- For wooden surfaces use nail-in clips or wood screws
- For steel tray/ladder use bolt-on cleats
- For outdoor poles or ducts use stainless steel banding or straps
Always follow spacing guidelines: every 300- 500mm for light cables and every 600-900mm for heavy cables unless project standards specify otherwise.
