AFL ASCEND Fibre Chassis
FAQs
The AFL Hyperscale ASCEND fibre chassis is a high density rackmount fibre housing designed for data center and enterprise network environments. It provides a central enclosure for installing fibre cassettes, enabling efficient patching, splicing, and management of fibre optic connections within a 19" rack system. This helps network teams organise high capacity fibre infrastructure in a structured and scalable way.
ASCEND fibre chassis are designed for high density fibre deployments, supporting up to 576 fibres (288 LC ports) in just 4RU of rack space depending on the configuration. This high port density allows data centers to maximise rack capacity while supporting growing bandwidth demands and large fibre backbone networks.
The ASCEND platform uses a modular tray based design that supports a wide range of interchangeable fibre cassettes. This allows network engineers to expand fibre capacity incrementally or deploy full scale connectivity systems from the start. The modular approach simplifies upgrades and enables flexible network architectures for hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise data center environments.
The chassis is engineered with front and rear access, sliding trays, and integrated cable management features to simplify installation and maintenance. Dedicated trunk cable routing areas and organised patch cord management help technicians perform moves, adds, and changes more efficiently while protecting fibre connections inside the enclosure.
